Dining with Chef Amy

Our Chef and kitchen staff will prepare you delicious meals with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Fresh produce and other items are flown in weekly.

Amy was born in the Midwest and grew up camping, fishing, canoeing, and hiking. Always drawn to the kitchen she started cooking meals for her father around age 10. Working in the industry from a young age as a waitress then bartender she always wound up in the kitchen helping. At her step mothers’ Italian restaurant, she began learning how to make pizza dough, sauces & other Italian specialties. At 22 she left for Alaska spending the next 3 years driving across the country between Alaska and the Florida Keys.

While attending the culinary program at Art Institute Fort Lauderdale she began working at James Beard nominated Yardbird Southern Table in South Beach for Chef Jeff Mcinnis. Jeff moved to NYC to open Root & Bone and requested Amy to come to help with the opening. Once in NYC and seeing the opportunities for learning Amy worked for respected Chef Marc Myers at Cookshop one of the pioneers of farm to table movement. From there she went to Eataly and the opportunity to be involved in events like Identita with renowned Chefs Mossimo Botura and Alex Atala. In her free time she would spend time in as many kitchens as she could, trailing at ABC kitchen, Ivan Raman, O-Ya, Shalom Japan, Megu, Barrel DC to name a few.

After 5 years in the city Amy decided to take some time off and do some traveling. Seeing the opportunity to come back to Alaska and do a little fishing she joins us here at Alaska’s Gold Creek Lodge.

A bountiful and hearty buffet of fruit, breakfast meats, home-baked goods, made to order eggs, daily specialty items, fruit juice, cocoa, tea, and gourmet coffee are served to get you started for a fun day of activities.
While out on your days adventures, you will enjoy a picnic lunch consisting of a delicious sandwich made to order, fresh veggies with dip, picnic salads, and daily soup to warm you on the cooler days. Chips and all the snacks, treats, gourmet cookies, and beverages you could want will also be provided. Hot shore lunches (bears permitting) can be arranged. We are more than happy to customize your lunch to accommodate your wishes.
Evenings are a time to wind down your day, exchange fish stories about the days adventures with other guests from around the world, and discuss with your guide what you would like to do for your next days adventure while enjoying delicious appetizers.  Dinner is a gourmet meal prepared by our excellent kitchen staff, served home style or plated depending on the evening and paired with a beer, wine or other beverage of your choice. Complete your meal with a decadent, made-from-scratch dessert.

Menus include fresh Alaskan seafood, top quality steak, chicken and pork. We can even prepare your catch of the day especially for you. Please let our staff know prior to your arrival of any dietary restrictions or allergies and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

After dinner feel free to relax, take advantage of our different lodge activities, sit on the dock and enjoy the sunset, or have your guide take you out for some sunset fishing on the Naknek River.
