Summertime is upon us, which means it is time to get outside! There is nothing better than exploring Alaska with the sun shining and the sight of snow-capped mountains in the background. We offer guided fishing and adventure tours to make sure you see and do everything on your bucket list. However, with a ton of activities comes supplies, so we have a few tips before you visit us in Alaska.
Clothing
Layers are the key when visiting Alaska. With a ton of activities, it helps to be able to shed layers as you work up a sweat. Being close to open water and getting out on the water means that the weather can change instantly, so rain gear is a good thing to keep on hand because you never know when the sky is going to open up. Waterproof shoes are preferred when fishing and kayaking but close toes shoes work as well. Hiking boots will come in handy if you are going to explore the Alaska wilderness. Hats are another good thing to keep on hand to protect you from the sun and to provide shade.
Extra Gear
The water’s reflective glare and the lack of shade when fishing can cause sunburn if you are not protected. Use 
sunscreen and lip balm to protect you from the long fishing days or hiking. Sunglasses are also a necessity. They will cut through the glare of the water to give you a better view of your perfect fish. If you get any motion sickness bring some over the counter remedies to help make your fishing trip more enjoyable. Bringing a water bottle will help you stay hydrated while out in the heat and prevent you from getting sick. Last but not least, a camera! Capture your catches, take action shots on the river, or catch the sun rising over the mountains. A camera will help store all of the amazing memories you will be making at Gold Creek Lodge. To store all of these supplies bring a backpack. It will keep everything together so that you can go on an adventure.
